Ms. Sharon Stephens, possesses a B.A. in Liberal Arts, Social Sciences concentration from College of New Rochelle; M.S. in Education, Teaching Urban Adolescents with Disabilities from Long Island University; and Ed.M in Educational Leadership from Columbia University, Teachers College.
Ms. Stephens consults with schools in New York City and serves on the faculty at Columbia University’s Summer Principals Academy where she also coaches and supervises the internship year for aspiring educational leaders. Ms. Stephens has led as Principal in both single sex elementary charter school and district middle school environments. Her experiences include over 20 years working to educate youth residing in New York. She has served as Founding Principal of Madiba Prep Middle school, which she designed and launched for the New York City Department of Education; professional developer; Literacy Coach; Early Intervention Coordinator for 13 schools; and Special Educator.
She has been instrumental in closing the achievement gap for urban scholars and raising literacy proficiency annually.
